Runners, walkers demonstrate ‘recovery’

LYNN – In near perfect early spring running weather, 816 runners and walkers took part in the fifth annual Hibernian St. Patrick’s Day Recovery race Sunday.The 5K race winds its way through the streets of West Lynn, beginning and ending at the Hibernian Hall of Federal Street.The atmosphere was festive as runners and walkers from as far away as Glendale, Ariz., took part.Pat Fullerton of Bradford, N.H., was the top finisher, doing the course in 15:05. The first woman to cross the finish line was Elizabeth Ryan of Boston, who ran the race in 18:42. She was 13th overall.The top 10 runners were Fullerton, Dan Vassallo of Peabody (15:31), Dave Sek of North Andover (16:36), Dan Chruniak of Beverly (16:51), Joe Siravo of Dorchester (17:06), Mark Mayall of Maynard (17:31), Michael Pulli of Medford (17:47), Adam Crombie of Winthrop (18:24), Rick Carrick of Burlington (18:24) and Amit Oza of Jamaica Plain (18:29).Julia Moceri, 11, of Rockport was the top girls finisher in the 12-and-under while Kyle Durant of Lynn was the top male.In the teen division, Francesca Galeazzi, 17, of Lynn, beat out a contingent of Classical runners to take first place for the girls while Douglas Wilson of Lynn, 18, was the No. 1 male.
