BOSTON ? A Swampscott man pleaded not guilty in a fatal hit-and-run collision in Charlestown that killed a cyclist on Thursday.Ricky Prezioso, 41, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death, according to a press release from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.According to the release, the cyclist was a 30-year-old Chelsea man.Prezioso was arraigned in Charlestown Municipal Court where ADA Ian Leson recommended $15,000 bail, that Prezioso be ordered to wear a GPS monitoring device and that Prezioso’s bail on an open assault and battery case in Woburn be revoked.Judge Lawrence McCormick set bail at $5,000 cash, the release said.According to the release, Boston Police responded to the scene of an accident at the intersection of Cambridge and Spice streets in Charlestown at about 1:40 p.m. Thursday. There they found that the victim, a cyclist, had been struck by a white garbage truck. The release stated that the victim has not been identified.Witnesses said the truck did not stop when it struck the cyclist, the release said, and Boston Police put out a description of the vehicle to departments in neighboring cities. The truck was traced to a waste removal company in Revere. Additionally, according to the release, GPS information from the truck showed it had been in the area of the collision at the same time it was reported. The truck was seized pending forensic examination, the release said. The release further states that after being read his rights, Prezioso allegedly told police that he thought he’d hit a pothole. The release says Prezioso claimed to have stopped and inspected the truck before continuing on with his route.Prezioso will return to court on May 19, and he is represented by defense attorney William Cintolo.
