LYNN – Two local women are under arrest and charged with stabbing a 25-year-old Johnson Street man Friday morning.A report of a vehicle fleeing that street prompted police to stop the pair on Washington Street in front of the police station at 10 a.m. and question the women. Police records indicated Charla Mercaldi, 23, of 144 Broad St., #314, and Kimberly Delorto, 23, of 239 Judge Road, were arrested at 10:30 a.m. and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. They are scheduled to be arraigned in District Court on Monday. Police Lt. Richard Donnelly said the man was listed in stable condition.?There was an altercation in the area of Johnson Street and Henry Avenue and a call came in of someone stabbed,” said Donnelly.Donnelly said the man?s wounds appeared to be non life-threatening but said he was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for “precautionary” reasons.Friday?s stabbing was the third armed assault in the city, according to police reports, in as many days. An 18-year-old male was shot in the face and taken to MGH on Wednesday afternoon where he was later listed in stable condition. A 19-year-old was stabbed in Central Square and taken to MGH with a non life-threatening injury.Juveniles were arrested and charged in connection with both assaults.Blood spots dotted the sidewalk in front of 83 Johnson St. and police set yellow markers along the sidewalk as they investigated Friday?s attack.Violent incidents on the street two blocks from City Hall have decreased, said seven-year resident PoSan Ung, who said neighbors told him the street in past years has been the scene of shootings and other crimes. Ung, pastor of a Union Street church, said drug dealing still occurs on Johnson Street.?It?s improving; I hope to improve it more,” he said.
