The Classical High boys tennis team took round one against rival English, winning 4-1 Monday at English.The Rams (2-2) had wins from Calvin Cheung at first singles, 6-0, 6-2; Anthony Ong, third singles, 6-2, 6-3; Mehti Bakhouch-Simon Kazimierczyk, first doubles, 7-5, 6-4, and Alex Chea-David Hincapie at second doubles, 1-6, 7-6, 6-4.?It was a very good match,” Classical coach Chris Hayward said. “It was closer than the score would indicate. Both teams played very well. The extremely windy condition messed both teams up.”The Bulldogs got their win from Eddie Ayinala, 6-2, 7-6, at second singles.The Rams were coming off a 3-2 loss to Peabody on Friday. Swampscott got a 6-2, 6-1 win at first doubles from Erick Eaton/Mike Pindrus while the Vikings got a singles triumph from No. 3 Jacob Lafratta (6-2, 6-4) over Nate Ryan.Arlington Catholic 3, Bishop Fenwick 2At Bishop Fenwick, the Crusaders (2-4) had wins from Zach Mutti, 6-7, 6-1, 6-1, at second singles and Connor Adams, third singles, 6-1, 7-5. Alex Baker and Joe Dorazio lost a very tight match at first doubles.BC High 5, St. John?s 0At BC High, the Eagles (4-1) took on the defending Division 1 state champs and came out on the short end despite strong play in first and third singles. Mia Pasuy took second in the 400 and Kylie Moorehouse, second in the 100 hurdles.
