LYNN – A 17-year-old male is to be arraigned today on a murder charge in connection with the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old early Wednesday morning.The incident is the second shooting in a week involving at least one juvenile. Two juveniles were charged in a stabbing last week.”I’m very concerned, especially because so many of the violent crimes have involved young people,” Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy wrote in a text message. “I am in the process of setting up a meeting with (Lynn Police) Chief Coppinger to discuss our options for addressing the issue.”Lynn Police responded to a reported shooting in the first-floor hallway at 192 Washington St. at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Amoy Blake, 18, was taken to Union Hospital where he died of his injuries, according to a statement from Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.A 17-year-old male was arrested and is expected to be arraigned for murder in Lynn District Court today. A spokesperson for Blodgett’s office said the teen, although a juvenile, will be tried as an adult, as he is being charged with murder. The spokesperson said they could not release the suspect’s name, however, as a juvenile’s name is not public when arrested.Friends described Blake as a role model.”He was a good friend, somebody I can look up to,” said Marcus Williams, 17, when reached by phone Wednesday afternoon. “He was close to everybody, a good friend. He never had no drama with anybody.”Williams said he was shocked by the news of Blake’s death and did not know what had happened.”This was a shock to me and every one of my friends and family,” he said.Cristian Sanchez, 16, described Blake as “like a father figure” who didn’t deserve to be killed.”He deserves to be here with his friends and family,” Sanchez said.He said that although a planned vigil asked attendees to wear a specific color, that was not because of any gang affiliation.Two 17-year-old juveniles were charged with delinquency by reason of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, to wit a knife, in connection with the stabbing of a 19-year-old city resident outside Lynn Museum April 9. Later that afternoon, a 17-year-old juvenile was charged with delinquency by reason of assault to murder after allegedly shooting an 18-year-old in the face on the train tracks by Neptune Street Court.Two women in their early 20s remain held on charges of assault to murder in connection with a stabbing on Johnson Street Friday morning.Approximately 150 people gathered silently at the fountain on Lynn Common Wednesday evening to light candles and pay respects.
