Raff Tyluf plated the hosts only run on a fielders’ choice in the fourth before finishing up on the mound with four inning of three hit ball, featuring 6 strikeouts. Danvers travels to English on Wednesday.Marblehead 4, Swampscott 1At Swampscott, the Magicians prevailed behind six strong innings from starter Jordan Chmara (4 hits, 5 strikeouts) who improved to 2-0 on the season. Marblehead got multi-hit games from Tom Koopman (3 for 4) and Trey Blackner and Garrett Keough who finished with two apiece. The latter earned his second save of the season.The Big Blue got a strong outing from Gavin Sullivan who pitched six inning (4 strikeouts) and three hits from Greg Collier.Beverly 18, Salem 3At Beverly, the Panthers cruised to victory behind a cast of multi-hit efforts including those of Matt Hamor and George Hillios who finished with three apiece. Beverly got two hits from the trio of Kevin Cuneo, John Berchoff and Nick Cotarao as well as four solid innings from winning pitcher Ted Leathersich.St. John’s 2, Haverhill 1At Haverhill, the Eagles took the lead in the top of the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Rosario Missiti which plated Mark Etherington who singled and stole second before advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt. Keith Leavitt made it 1-0 with a sixth inning solo shot before the Hillies got the run back in their half. Justin Snyder went the distance for St. John’s (5-1), allowing three hits while striking out seven. The Prep plays again today, at Bishop Fenwick (10).Everett 6, Winthrop 5At Everett, the Vikings dropped an exclusionary game despite the stellar effort of reliever Chris Fucillo who struck out 10 batters over three and two thirds innings. The senior threw 65 pitches, 48 for strikes and had an assist on the only ball put in play by the Crimson Tide. Winthrop (4-2) travels to Peabody on Wednesday.
