Lacrosse: Lynn boys come out fast, beat Malden

The combined English/Classical lacrosse team came out flying in a 13-5 win over Malden Friday at McDonald StadiumLynn scored the first eight goals of the game and then went up 9-1 before Malden made any noise. Corey Wojewodzic led the way for the Shamrocks with three goals and three assists. Adam Bryson, Tony Uva and Sean Hemenway each had two goals and Ryan Magrane, Tyler Craig, Chris Foley and Alex Amico added one each. Amico also had two assists.”They showed up today,” Lynn coach Peter Pappagianopoulos said. “We had good ball movement. We had a great first half.”Pappagianopoulos said he had an opportunity to use a lot of his younger players in the second half. It was also a successful day for the junior varsity, which won 5-4 in double overtime. Foley, who split his time between varsity and JV, tied the game and Justin Kim supplied the game-winner.Lynnfield 14, Cambridge 12At Cambridge, the Lynnfield High lacrosse program recorded its 100th win since it started in 2003. Coach Joe Papagni, who was there from the start, also celebrated his 100th coaching win.Dan Sullivan had a productive day with six goals. Chad Martin (2 goals), Matt Boehner (goal); Jake Forgione (2 goals); Alex Soden (goal, 2 assists); John Knee (goal, 2 assists) and Mike Look (goal, 2 assists). Dylan Schafer notched his first win in net with six saves.GIRLS LACROSSELowell Catholic 16, St. Mary’s 6At Lowell Catholic, St. Mary’s (6-6) got goals from Amanda Donahoe, Erin Mahar, Maggie Flaherty (2), Elizabeth Weiss and Sarah Ryan.Beverly 15, Swampscott 6At Beverly, the Big Blue fell to 2-6-1 as Lauren Sullivan had three goals, and MacKenzie Robertson, Maggie DeGrande and Erin Condon had one each.Gloucester 13, Revere 1at Gloucester, the Patriots (0-5) lone goal came from junior Leangcheng Chrea. Rachael DeSantis, (defense) and Ivonne Zapata, (center) had strong performances for Revere. The Patriots play Winthrop Tuesday.Danvers 10, Marblehead 9At Marblehead, the Falcons led 6-3 at the half and didn’t let up. Ellie Ronan had three goals for the Magicians (5-5, 2-2 Northeastern Conference); Lucy Poulin (2 goals, assist); Adrienne Ciccone (goal, assist); Emily Freedlan (2 goals) and Kelsey Detels (goal).
