Classical track sweeps English

Classical made it a clean sweep in track with the girls defeating rival English 82-54 and the boys topping the Bulldogs 72-64 Monday at Manning Field.In the girls meet, Classical had first-place finishes from Soraya Auguste in the shot put (25-2 1/2) and the discus (83-10); Rebecca Potter, long jump (15-1); Jessica Unubun, javelin (83 feet); Mary Jok, high jump (4-4); Agnes Bangura, 100 meters (13.1) and 200 meters (26.9); Devyn Astuccio, 100 meter hurdles (17.3) and Jen Gaudet, 400 meters (65.1)The Bulldogs (0-5) had several winning performances including Manyi Enow in the 2-mile (13:43); Karina Ross, 400 meter hurdles (76.2) and triple jump (28-4); Catherine Sandoval, mile (6:47); Jesse Ngandjui, 800 (2:49) and Georgette Kotee, Brianna Maynard, Princess Guwor and Faith Agdonsalo, 4 x 100 relay (53.8); Karla Ross, Karina Ross, Enow and Ngandjui, 4 x 400 (5:01).BOYS TRACKClassical 72, English 64At Manning Field, Elias Gervacio (69.0), Dave Vagner and Eduardo Peguero swept the 400 hurdles for the Rams. Gervacio also won the 110 meter hurdles (17.6); Gilley Kabamba took first in the 2-mile (11:08) with Thomas Mackin taking second (11:17). Renzo Pappaterra won the 100 (11.5); Ezekiel Ebieshuwa, the 300 (24.2) and Hamed Abdull Karim, the mile (5:25).In the field events, Jesse Mower (98-6) led a sweep of the discus with Ernest Owoh and A.J. Bradbury taking second and third. Kenny Khun won the triple jump (38-4) and Jordan Brown, the high jump (5-10).English (0-4) had a win in the 4 x 100 relay with Daekwon Shepard, Chris Lessard, Peter Matu and Brandon Emmanuel (46.2). James Cabral won the 400 (55.8); Emmanuel Ezemba, 800 (Fardin Islam took second); Kevin Francisco, Andy Choun, Ezemba and Cabral, 4 x 400 (3:59.9) and Shepard, long jump (20-1) with Hugh Calice second (18-9). Lessard won the shot put (39-1) with Jordan Javier (35-8) taking second.
