LYNN – A Marblehead woman was held without bail after police say she assaulted her boyfriend, returned from court the following day and then stabbed the boyfriend and beat him with a baseball bat.”(The boyfriend) called 911 to report that his girlfriend, (the defendant), had stabbed him and hit him in the head with a baseball bat,” Marblehead Police Officer Eric Osattin wrote in a report. “We are very familiar with (the couple) from prior police incidents, including the previous night.”Leigh T. Hodges, 59, of 30C Bessom St., Marblehead, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person +60; assault and battery; assault and battery on a police officer, two counts; threat to commit a crime; and resisting arrest; last Thursday.She appeared in Lynn District Court Friday where a plea of not guilty was entered on her behalf, according to court documents.Marblehead Police reported responding to the Bessom Street residence at 6 p.m. last Thursday but left after Hodges and the alleged victim agreed to stop yelling at each other, according to a report by Marblehead Police Officer Chuck Sinclair. Officers reported returning a half-hour later, however, and found the alleged victim with scratches over his face and chest. The alleged victim reported Hodges attacked him, hit him on the shoulder with a metal tool and then threw the tool at him, police said. The alleged victim also reported Hodges would try to stab or scratch herself to make it look like she was the victim.Hodges did not cooperate with officers.”I told her that she was under arrest for domestic assault and battery, so please get up from her chair,” police reported. “She told me no and told us where to go.””Three officers, a few firemen and two EMTs” eventually wrapped Hodges, described as “highly intoxicated,” in a blanket and cuffed her to stop her hits, kicks and spitting, officers reported.Hodges allegedly also threatened both the alleged victims and officers multiple times while creating a scene in the street and at the hospital.Judge Dominic Paratore ordered Hodges not to abuse the alleged defendant and released Hodges on personal recognizance after her arraignment on the charges Friday in Lynn District Court, according to court documents.Police returned to Bessom Street at 6:25 p.m. that evening on another 911 call from the alleged victim. This time he reported Hodges stabbed him five times with a knife and hit him in the head 10 times with a metal baseball bat, according to police reports. The attack was allegedly precipitated by the alleged victim packing his things to leave the apartment. Police noted the alleged victim had a bloody and punctured hand and lumps on his head.Police reported finding the knife in the sink and the baseball bat in the kitchen.Hodges was arrested (without incident this time, police noted) and charged with assault and battery on a person +60, two counts; and assault and battery.A plea of not guilty was entered on her behalf in Lynn District Court Monday, according to court documents.Essex Assistant District Attorney Andrew Boyd requested $1,000 cash bail for the new charges and that bail be revoked on the assault charges from the Thursday incident.Judge James Wexler accepted both requests. Hodges is scheduled to return to court on both matters May 27.
