Softball: Revere soars past Marblehead

The Revere High softball team pounded out 16 hits in an 8-3 win over Marblehead Wednesday at Marblehead.The Patriots (8-2) scored a run in the top of the second inning on a Lauren Hayes (3-for-4, 2 RBI) single. They added two in the third inning on RBI singles by Victoria Russo and Cassandra DiBella and another two in the fourth on a bunt single by Noelle MacDonald and an RBI single by Christina Stella. Revere padded the 5-1 lead with a run in the fifth and two in the sixth. Sabrina Palermo (6 hits, 9 strikeouts, 3 walks) got the win.Emily Messinger and Rachel McKay swung the bat well for the Magicians.Archbishop Williams 6, Bishop Fenwick 4At Braintree, Fenwick took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Jen Crovo singled and scored on a Bridgett Corcoran single. The Bishops got two back in the third to go up 2-1 and three in the fourth to take a 5-1 lead. Fenwick rallied for three in the fifth inning when Jenny Nasser singled, Crovo walked and they both moved up on a double steal. Nasser scored on a groundout by Chandler Wilder. Corcoran walked and both she and Crovo scored on a double by Gabby Hart.Natalie Moore (6 innings, 8 hits, 5 strikeouts) took the loss.Gloucester 10, Beverly 9At Beverly, the Panthers (2-5) saw this one slip away in the bottom of the seventh inning. Hannah Silvestri was 2-for-2 with an RBI; other contributors included Ally Pia (2-for-3, 2 RBI) and Molly Pitman (3-for-4).Winthrop 14, Salem 2At Winthrop, the Vikings (5-4) won their fourth game in a row. Maura Lanza went six innings, allowing six hits and two earned runs, striking out seven and not walking a batter.Freshman Maddie Finga?a had a big day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two singles, a double, triple, two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Jen Adamson (2-for-4, 2 doubles) and Lanza (single, double, 4 RBI, 2 stolen bases) also contributed with the bat, as did Taylor Thomas (2-for-3, double, 2 runs) and Olivia Grillo (2-for-3, single, triple, RBI).
