The St. Mary’s girls lacrosse team defeated Greater Lowell, 12-10, in overtime Friday at Greater Lowell.The Spartans (7-7) scored three goal late in the game to send it into overtime where Lauren Skinnion picked an opportune time to score her first goal of the season. Elizabeth Weisse scored her second of the day to padded the lead a bit (overtime is two, three minute period).The game was tied, 5-5, at the half, but Greater Lowell surged to a 10-7 lead than tied to kill the clock. The Spartans didn’t cooperate.”It was a very exciting game,” St. Mary’s coach Al Eaton said. ‘We tied the game in the last few minutes. We had to fight to get back in it.”Amanda Donahoe and Leenie Murphy had two goals each, Katie Walker, four goals and Emma Harvey made six saves in net.Swampscott 6, Bedford 5At Bedford, Swampscott (8-1) found itself down 2-1 at the end of the first half. The Big Blue outscored Bedford 5-3 in the second half. Swampscott was up 6-3 with two minutes left, and Bedford scored two goals in the final two minutes, but it was not enough.”This was our first game all week, and we came out a little slow to start,” Swampscott coach Todd Pierce said. “We were able to regain our focus in the second half, and play really well.”Leading the way for Swampscott offense was Griffin Hunt (goal, assist) and Jason Dingnan (goal, won 76 percent of the face-offs). The Big Blue defense was anchored by goalie Max Cohen (15 saves) and Tucker Merritt.. Swampscott plays Manchester Essex Monday.Shawsheen 12, Tech 0At Manning Field, the Tigers (0-8) had a strong team effort despite the result.”We only had 10 players at our disposal today and they did not quit,” Tech coach Jay Richards said. “They all played as hard as they could and did the best they can. That type of effort is all I can ask for.”Tech plays Northeast Monday.GIRLS LACROSSEPeabody 12 Beverly 6At Peabody, Courtney Smith (6 points), Lauren Wolfe (4 points), Aly Bortone (3 points), Jillian Kerwin (2 points) and Emma Rigol (1 point) led the way.Defensive standouts were Alyssa Shashaty, Michaela Jacks, and Molly Tansey.Sarah Godschall and Sydney Cooke had good draw control and good transition. Freshman Gianna Denisco stood strong in goal with 10 saves.
