School Roundup: English girls track gets win over Salem

The English High girls track team won its first meet under coach Brenda Martin, defeating Salem 76-61, at Manning Field Monday.?We were all in tears at the end,” Martin said. “It was pretty exciting.”Karina Ross won the triple jump (30-3) and the long jump (14-2) and she finished second in the 400 hurdles (76.0). Ikhianosen Ukhuedoba won the 400 (70.1) and the discus (65 feet) and Kotte won the 200 (28.1). English?s Manyi Enow and Marnie McManus took second and third in the mile and Jesse Ngandjui won the 800 (2:42).BOYS TRACKSalem 97, English 42At Manning Field, the Bulldogs (0-5) had a first in the mile from Emmanuel Ezemba. Kevin Francisco, Andy Choun, Ezemba and James Cabral won the 4 x 400 relay (3:52) and T.J. Hernandez won the high jump (6-0) and qualified for the states. Daekwon Shepard took second in the long jump (20-2), but qualified for the states.N. Reading 91, Lynnfield 54At North Reading, Lynnfield had wins from Jonah Ruecker, long jump (18-0); Colby Choi, triple jump (37-11); Cam DeGeorge, discus (103-4); Matt Kramich, javelin (133-6); Sam Johnson, 100 (11.7) and Elias Scangas, 300 (23.7).Cam Rondeau, Austin Caswell, Elias Scangas and Matt Kramich won the 4 x 100 (45.9) and Colby Choi, Trevor Cory, Jonah Ruecker and Sam Johnson won the 4 x 400 (4:04). Lynnfield is 0-8.
