Roundup: Lynnfield girls tennis tops Saugus, stays unbeaten

The Lynnfield High girls tennis team continued its perfect season with a 5-0 win over Saugus Tuesday at Saugus.The Pioneers, who are now 12-0, won in every spot with Izzy Figucia defeating Emma Turgeon, 6-0, 6-1, at first singles; Marjorie Dwyer defeated Ivy Coreal 6-0, 6-0 at second singles and Katie Nevils defeated Olivia Chaves at third singles, 6-0, 6-1.In doubles, Lynnfield?s Logan and Sloan Colby-Nunziato defeated Samantha Delaney-Bianca Rosato, 6-2, 6-2, and Jen Caruso-Kayla Collins defeated Caitlan Williamson-Jiana Capone, 6-0, 6-0.Swampscott 4, Salem 1At Salem State University, the Big Blue (10-2) had wins from Anna Raptunovich at first singles, 6-0, 6-0; Vivien Gere, second singles, 6-0, 6-0; Veronica Pyatigorskaya, third singles, 6-0, 6-0, and Anya Peterson-Jessica Zollott, first doubles, 6-2, 6-2.Salem?s Hannah Van de Stadt and Kathryn Towel won at second doubles, 6-4, 7-5.BOYS TENNISSwampscott 4, Salem 1At Swampscott, Ian Crimmins won at second singles, 6-0, 6-1; John Rizk, third singles, 6-0, 6-0; Ruben Isgulov-Mike Pindrus, first doubles, and Erick Eaton-Tyler Gateman, second doubles, 6-1, 6-1. The Big Blue (6-6) need two more wins to qualify for the state tournament. They have four matches remaining.Danvers 4, Peabody 1At Peabody, the Falcons (12-2, 9-1 NEC) stayed in contention for a share of the Northeastern Conference title. Nick Lisichenok won at first singles, 6-0, 6-0; Toma Nabokin, second singles, 6-0, 6-0; Jim Cunningham, third singles, 6-0, 6-1; and Matt Kidney-Emmett Pierro, first doubles, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.Peabody?s Steve Goggin and Sam Gottsegen won at second doubles, 6-1, 6-0.Andover 3, St. John?s 2At Andover, the Eagles (9-4) had wins from Nico Limacher at second singles, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 and from Sean Nork-Scott Reister at second doubles, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. Three matches ended up going three sets “We were very comparable, they were just a little better,” St. John?s coach Mark Metropolis said. “It was a great match. The kids were banging away. It was nice solid tennis, like tournament tennis.”Austin 3, Marblehead 2At Austin Prep, in a match that lasted close to three hours, the clincher came in a 10-point super tie breaker in second doubles, with Marblehead?s Matt Jepsky teaming up with freshman Garrett Tully against two Cougar seniors, Teddy Sackos and Christos Kourkoulous, who won 6-4, 4-6, 10-4.Marblehead?s wins came in first singles, with Miles Barry defeating Luke Wyman, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3; and first doubles, with Michael Forte-Justin Faia beating Trevor Cox-Alex Ginchis, 6-4, 6-3.The Cougars took second and third singles, with Stratton Stilianos beating Griffin Butterfield, 6-4, 6-4; and Alex Gilmore beating Felix Litvak 6-1, 6-4.Matignon 3, Fenwick 2Bishop Fenwick 3, Matignon 2At Bishop Fenwick, the Crusaders (4-9) lost the first match but had wins from Joe Dorazio at singles, 8-2 (pro set format) and Aidan Barrett and Hunter McDonough, first doubles (8-5).In the second match, Dorazio won 8-4 and Barrett-McDonough, 8-3. Christian Sanchez and Patrick McShea were also good for a point, winning 9-8 at second doubles.BOYS LACROSSESalem 11, Revere 1At Salem, the Patriots (7-6) had a goal from Jay Seigal in the fourth quarter. Revere plays Malden Friday at home (Senior Night).Beverly 9, Peabody 7At Beverly, the Tanners lost, but it was a much better contest than the first time the teams met earlier in the season, when Beverly won 18-2.?We played really well,” Peabody coach Anthony O?Donnell said. “It was a one-goal game all the way through. We were only down one starting the fourth quarter.”Peabody tied it up with eight minutes remaining, but Beverly scored a minute later to pull away for good.Ryan Wolff had three goals for the Tanners (4-11). Josh Fiore had a goal and three assists; Reed Foster, two goals and an assist, and Zach Billie, one goal. Mike Vadala had an assist.Ham-Wen 7, Lynnfield 4At Hamilton-Wenham, the Pioneers (5-9) led 3-2 at the half, but the Generals started pulling away in the second half
