LYNN ? Firefighters and police officers closed Pleasant Street between Alley Street and the Lynnway Wednesday morning after a tractor trailer fuel tank ruptured, spilling diesel fuel on the roadway.District Fire Chief Stephen Archer estimated one of the truck’s saddle tanks dumped 50 to 100 gallons of fuel at the intersection of Pleasant and Alley. Archer did not know the spill’s precise cause but said the truck may have struck a concrete curb.Archer said firefighters spread a material called Speedy Dry onto the roadway to soak up the fuel and called in crews from hazardous waste response firm Clean Harbors, Inc. and the Public Works Department. He said the truck is owned by RSTZ Transport of Webster.Firefighters also responded to a fire in a 109 Green St. home on Wednesday at 2:19 a.m. Archer said the fire started in the two-family residence’s second-floor dormer. He said firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. He did not know how it started or how many residents were affected by the fire.
