Track: Classical edges Beverly in relay

The Classical High boys track team went into the 4 x 400 relay trailing Beverly by three points, but strong third and fourth legs by Yunior Crispin and A.J. Bradbury helped the Rams overcome a 50-meter gap to win the event and the meet, 69-67 at Manning Field.?It was a big win,” Classical coach Ryan Hathaway said. “It?s been a long time since we?ve beaten Beverly.”Just how long is up for debate. Hathaway has coached the team for 10 years and it hasn?t happened during his tenure.?The kids were excited and I was excited,” Hathaway said. “We kept going strong. It was nice.”The winning relay (4:04) also featured Hamed Abdull-Karim and Ahanna Ugorgi. The Rams also had wins from Renzo Pappaterra, 100 meters (11.5); Zeke Ebieshuwa, the 200 (23.7); A.J. Bradbury, 400 (57.5); Elias Gervacio, 110 meter hurdles (17.1); Jordan Brown, high jump (5-8); Ernest Owoh, discus (98 feet) and Kenny Khun, triple jump (40 feet).In the last individual event, Dave Vagner took third in the javelin (120-8) and Bradbury won the javelin on his last throw (127-1) to keep the meet alive for the Rams (2-5).S?scott 126, Winthrop 7At Swampscott, the Big Blue (4-1) dominated, led by double winners Dan Woolhiser, 400 meter hurdles (66.7) and long jump (17-9), and Tristan Smith, 110 hurdles (16.7) and the high jump (5-2). The Big Blue also had wins from Sandro O?Neil, 2-mile (11:48); Frankie DiLisio, 100 dash (11.5); Matt Mahoney, mile (4:47); Marco Scibelli, 400 (53.9); Thomas McDevitt, 800 (2:20); Maleek Newsome, 200 (23.7); Dante Ceccarelli, triple jump (38-10); Justin Chasse, shot put (48-11); Sam Beerman, discus (110-2) and Aidan Brawley, javelin (159-8). Swampscott also won both relays.GIRLS TRACKS?scott 120, Winthrop 40At Swampscott, the Big Blue got two wins from Aisling Dennehy, in the 200m (26.6) and triple jump (32-9); and Ella Parker in the 400 hurdles (76.1) and the 800 (2:31). Other winners were Maria Travacio, discus (76-8), Shauna King, javelin (100-1), Michelle LaConte, mile (6:05), and Sarah Kelley, 400 (63.5).Beverly 99, Classical 37At Manning Field, Classical had two individual winners: junior captain Jen Gaudet took the 200 meters (26.9), and Isis Bryant took the shot put (30-0). Classical also took the 4×100 with Gaudet, Rebecca Potter, Devyn Astuccio and Agnes Bangura (52.3). Classical is 1-6.
