The combination of trainer Jay Bernardini and David Amiss continued their dominance with three winners on Saturday’s nine-race card.Bernardini and Amiss kicked off their triple with a win in the opener with Odlum ($4.20). In the seventh race, Charles River Racing’s Peter’s Creek ($3.60) prevailed in a hard fought stretch duel to earn his thirteenth career victory. The pair swept the late double in the ninth and final race with a maiden win with Play ($8.40).Bernardini tops the trainer standings with 10 wins on the season and David Amiss is currently leading the race for leading jockey with eight victories.Mr. Roessink delivered as the favorite for the red hot Jay Bernardini barn in Monday’s featured allowance race, winning by 3/4 of a length completing a mile in 1:42.After Ward Three Art G broke sharply and opened up an expansive lead, David Amiss and Mr. Roessink bided their time in second and closed the gap, drawing even with that rival at the top of the stretch and pulling away with enough left to hold off a furious late charge from Ant Hill and Taylor Hole.Mr. Roessink returned $2.60, 2.10 and 2.10 while Ant Hill paid $3.40 and 3.00. Lindyhop paid $3.20 and 2.10 while Kitty City returned $2.10.uAlso Wednesday, veteran rider Vernon Bush piloted home two long shots. He teamed up with Tim Kirby in the fourth race with Casey Key ($50.80) and won the final race of the day with St. Mawes ($27.00) for Miles Heinen.Today at Suffolk Downs, Team Rotondo from the Esquire Network’s reality series “Horseplayers” will be on hand to host a handicapping seminar looking at both the Preakness Stakes and several races from Suffolk Downs.Also today, a field of seven sprinters is scheduled to go to post in the day’s featured race, a five and a half furlong starter allowance race.Headlining the competitive field is Glowing Promise, winner of the Opening Day feature on May 3. The eight-year-old gelding has seventeen wins to his credit, all of which have come locally. Vernon Bush is named to ride for owner and trainer John Nassi.Also in that race is Classic Speed for the powerhouse Bernardini barn. The seven-year-old gelding was second to Glowing Promise last time out and the pair will renew their rivalry.
