The Peabody boys lacrosse team scored three fourth-quarter goals in seven minutes against North Reading Friday afternoon, but despite catching fire late, the Tanners fell, 8-6, at home.Peabody (4-11) was down 4-3 at the half, and 8-3 in the early stages of the fourth quarter. Peabody cut the deficit to two (8-6) with two minutes remaining, but could not close the gap anymore.”The boys played hard and never gave up,” Peabody coach Anthony O’Donnell said. “They kept chipping away, but we ran out of time.”Leading the way for the Tanners was Ryan Wolff (2 goals, 1 assist) and Josh Fiore (2 goals, 1 assist). Jerry Manfra and Max Grayton chipped in with one goal each. Sam Alyward had a strong performance on the defensive side for Peabody. Peabody plays Salem Monday.GIRLS LACROSSEMarblehead 14, Medford 2At Marblehead, the Magicians (11-6) jumped out to a 11-1 lead at the end of the first half, and were on cruise control the rest of the way. Leading the way for Marblehead was the duo of Emily Freedland (3 goals) and Kelsey Detels (3 goals). The rest of the Marblehead goal scorers were: Lucie Poulin (2 goals, 2 assists); Amanda Gregory (2 goals); Sydney Cayen (2 goals); Adrienne Ciccone (1 goal) and Corinne Mayle (1 goal, 2 assists). Brittany Lydon had a strong game in net for the Magicians (11 saves).Hamilton Wenham 12, Fenwick 9At Fenwick, the Crusaders (11-6) had a strong team effort.
