SAUGUS ? Saugus Police apprehended a wanted, allegedly dangerous man who was staying in a Broadway motel on Friday.According to a release, Saugus Police responded to a request from the Gloucester Police Department to be on the lookout for a wanted man who was believed to be in Saugus. Officials reported that police intelligence indicated that Barry Troy, 51, of Boston, was staying at the Ferns Motel at 152 Broadway. Saugus Police reported that Troy has a history of violence, and there were reports that he may have a firearm. Therefore, the Saugus Police Department requested the assistance of the North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) SWAT Team for entry and apprehension of the suspect.Saugus Police went to the hotel and found that Troy’s motor vehicle was parked in the parking lot, and police determined the suspect was in one of the hotel rooms, according to the release. The SWAT team assembled quickly and pulled an armored vehicle up to the suspect’s room. Shortly after the SWAT team announced its presence over a loudspeaker, Troy and another man emerged from the room and surrendered. No injures were reported.Police reported that the second man in the room with Troy was identified as Frank Moore, 28, of Canton. Police determined that Moore had a warrant for his arrest as well, and he was taken into custody. Troy has been charged with violation of probation. Moore was arrested on a default warrant for various motor vehicle offenses.?This is a fine example of police teamwork resulting in justice served,” said Saugus Police Chief Domenic DiMella. “Gloucester and Saugus police shared information, leading to the location of a wanted suspect, and the resources provided by NEMLEC ensured a quick arrest without incident or injury to officers or the suspects. I am proud of the work done today by Saugus Police and our partner agencies.”
