The Revere High softball team ventured into new territory Friday by capturing at least a share of the Northeastern Conference Large title with a 2-0 win over Beverly at Beverly.This was definitely the first NEC title for the Patriots and as far as coach Lou Ciccarello knows there was only one other in the program’s history and that was when the team played in the Greater Boston League.The team went 3-17 Ciccarello’s first year, but has been steadily improving since then. The team finished 15-5 overall and 11-4 in the NEC. Peabody has one more conference game against Salem and if the Tanners win, Revere and Peabody will share the title.The game was scoreless until the top of the seventh inning when Cassandra DiBella reached on a walk and advanced on a hit by Juliana Cecere. Cecere had both Revere hits. Ally Hinojosa ended up driving DiBella in on a sacrifice fly and Logan DiCarlo, who had walked, scored on a passed ball.Beverly could only muster one hit (from Olivia George) against Revere pitcher Sabrina Palmero. Beverly pitcher Emily Pitman only allowed two. Beverly is 6-14 heading into the Corning Tournament this weekend.BASEBALLEverett 1, Fenwick 0At Everett, the Crusaders (11-8) only had three hits, two by Jake Barresso and one by Nick Bona. Everett scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the third inning. It was unearned.Tommy Parsons took the loss, despite only giving up two hits, striking out 10 and walking three. Everett is 9-9 and needs one more win to make the tournament. Fenwick plays Archbishop Williams today at 9:30 a.m. with a share of the Catholic Central League title on the line.Lynnfield 12, Austin Prep 1At Belmont, the Pioneers advanced to the finals of the Brendan Grant Tournament. Marblehead won third singles by forfeit because Revere was short players.GIRLS TENNISMarblehead 5, Revere 0At Bass River, the Magicians (12-6) dominated play with Kelly Mealey winning at first singles, 6-0, 6-2. All the other matches were 6-0, 6-0, with Amanda Gilberg winning at second singles, Mia Griffin at third single, Sophia Capalbo-Alexa Hamelburg, first doubles, and Caroline Hooper-Kaelyn Attridge, second doubles.
