Track: Prep second in Catholic Conference Meet

Host St. John?s amassed 106 points to finish second behind BC High in Saturday?s Catholic Conference Meet. Senior Evan Dombrowski was named the league?s Outstanding Field Athlete for the season and senior Joe Luongo was selected the Outstanding Runner.Dombrowski won the shot put with a season-best 57-1 throw and Luongo claimed the 400 in 49.7. The Eagles also got winning performances from Josh Hubbell with a personal best of 23.14 in the 200; Tim Loehner with a personal best of 9:43.66 in the two-mile; and Tighe Robinson with a personal best of 158-0 in the javelin.John Sullivan placed second in the high hurdles (16.36) and third in the 400 IM hurdles (60.3). Mike Mejias recorded a personal best of 11.33 in the 100 while John Long placed second in the javelin in 155-6.CCL Meetat Bishop FenwickGirlsSt. Mary?s finished third with 95 points, paced by the meet?s Outstanding Performer in Zuzu Haefner, who won the 400 hurdles (71.5), high jump (5-2), and triple jump (31-3 1/2).Larisa Bogomolov (discus, 86-1 1/2), Michaela St. Cyr (javelin, 103-5) and Toni Vinciarelli, 200 (27.4), also won their events. Other placers were: Carol DiMaiti (2nd, 100, 13.2), Tia Foglietta (3rd, mile, 5:30.3), Paige Fielding and Carmel Lozzi (T-4th, high jump, 4-8), and Dianna Hallisey (5th, triple jump, 28-10 1/4). The 4×100 (55.6), 4×400 (4:46.2) and 4×800 (11:58.5) relay teams all finished fourth.BoysSt. Mary?s ran sixth with 26 points as Andrew DiMaiti set a league record of 56.8 in the 400 hurdles and ran the lead leg of the league record-setting 4×800 relay team that included Tony Mwangi, Mike Cerulli and Cullen Coyle and clocked 9:15.6. Mwangi was fifth in the two-mile (11:15.9), Shane O?Neill placed fifth in the 100 hurdles (19.5) and Cerulli was sixth in the mile (5:00.8).Cape Ann League Meetat IpswichBoysLynnfield?s Elias Scangas (200, 22.6) and Matt Kramish (javelin, 151-4) placed second. The 4×100 relay team of Cam Rondeau, Austin Caswell, Scangas and Kramich placed third in 46.15 and the 4×800 quartet of Chase Davidson, Trevor Cory, Matt Seelig and Tim Rice was fourth in 8:59.Saugus sophomore Alex Kotkowski placed third in the 400 hurdles (60.2) and fifth in the 110 high hurdles (17.09).GirlsMichaela Parella placed fourth in the shot put for Saugus. Additionally, Chrissy Monaco (2-mile, 12:22), Emily Monaco (800, 2:32.7) and the 4×400 relay team of Monaco, Krissy Italiano, Norma Waggett and Rachael May all qualified for the upcoming State Meet.CAC MeetBoysJustin Lewis of Tech won the high jump (6-0) and qualified for states. Johvan Van of Tech won the triple jump and took second in the high jump.
