The first annual Lynn Public Schools 5th Grade Track and Field Meet was held Tuesday morning at Manning Field.The four-day event, put on by the Lynn schools and Lynn Parks and Recreation, gives boys and girls from the city?s elementary schools an opportunity to participate in a day of running, throwing and jumping with the ultimate prize, city bragging rights, on the line. On Tuesday, the first group of schools to compete included Callahan, Fallon, Ford, Lynn Woods and Shoemaker. On Thursday, Cobbet, Sewell-Anderson, Sisson and Tracy will compete and on Monday, June 2, Aborn, Brickett, Connery and Hood will do the same. The fourth and final day (Tuesday, June 3) will feature the Drewicz, Harrington and Ingalls schools.?It was a good showing,” Department of Public Works Associate Commissioner Lisa Nerich said. “The kids really had a lot of energy. It was very successful … the kids had a lot of fun.”The events include 50, 100 and 200-meter runs, a 4 x 100 relay and a softball throw and standing long jump. Each participant can compete in one running event and one field event, as well as a relay.The results for the boys? first day of competition (top three finishers) are as follows: 4 x 100 relay, Lynn Woods (1:06.9), Shoemaker (1:07.5) and Shoemaker (1:12); 50 meters, Anthony R. Timmons, Shoemaker (8.4 seconds), Jason Deleon, Ford (8.5) and Gabriel Delgado, Ford (8.7); 100 meters, Ryan Sansone, Shoemaker (14.7), Justin Figueroa, Callahan (15.4); and Mehujael Cubilett, Ford (15.9); 200 meters, Matthew Lopez, Lynn Woods (32.1); Tahj Purter, Lynn Woods (32.3) and Isaiah Reyes, Lynn Woods (32.9).In the field events the winners were, in the softball throw, Nicholas Galeazzi, Shoemaker (132.05); Christian Moran, Lynn Woods (123-10) and Lucas Fritz, Shoemaker (122-4); long jump, Tahj Purter, Lynn Woods (6-4 1/2); Ryan Sansone, Shoemaker (6-3) and Anthony Timmons, Shoemaker (6-1).In the girls meet, the top three finishers in each event were, in the softball throw, Michelle Nolasco, Callahan, (96-10); Abigail Fila, Lynn Woods (88-8) and Allyssa Paone, Shoemaker (88-2); long jump, Caitlyn Phay, Ford (6-6 1/2), Leakhena La, Ford (6-4) and Kaleigh Marr, Lynn Woods (6-4); 50 meters, Kaleigh Marr, Lynn Woods (8.4); Kaylalyn Bourgeoi, Fallon (8-4); Tavy-Anna Chheng, Ford (8.6); 100 meters, Franccini Lazcano, Shoemaker (17.1); Deshawna Rucker, Callahan (17.1); Misato Chinchilla, Shoemaker (17.3); 200 meters, Kacey Rouse, Shoemaker (34.8); Caitlyn Phay, Ford (35.5); and Georgina Olivares, Ford (35.7); 4 x 100 relay, Shoemaker (1:12.3); Shoemaker (1:15.6) and Ford (1:17.9).
