SWAMPSCOTT – The School Building Committee is holding another public information session, this time focusing on what a district-wide school will mean for elementary education in Swampscott. After well-attended forums focused on traffic, design, cost and location, the committee will address what committee member Glenn Paster called the most important issue of all on Tuesday, June 17 at 7 p.m. at Swampscott High School.?This is why this is being done, for the betterment of the students,” said Paster.Superintendent Pamela Angelakis will present the advantages for education in a district-wide school versus the existing neighborhood school setup in the town, with buildings that Paster said are beyond repair.?Pam and her staff get so excited of what can be offered ? to bring a myriad of great stuff and new technology that isn?t available in the buildings right now,” said Paster.Angelakis will also present how the classes will be structured with 600 students. “She?ll talk about why educators think it?s such a great idea to have all grade one and all grade twos together,” said Paster.Paster said the project has only gotten stronger with each public meeting as the committee heard questions and suggestions that prompted them to research further. “The more people are involved, the stronger the ideal of a new school becomes,” he said.Paster noted that attendees should feel free to ask questions on other topics, though the overall discussion will be kept to education.
