LYNN ? The Wilson family of Lynn has plenty to celebrate this summer after three of their family members graduated from various different institutions this spring.Cynthia Wilson, a mother and a teacher at Cobbet Elementary School in Lynn, graduated from American International College with a master’s degree in education. Meanwhile her children have been enjoying academic successes of their own: her son, Charles Michael Wilson, graduated Colby Sawyer College with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, and her daughter, Jacqueline Holt Wilson, graduated Lynn Classical High School ranked fourth in her class.?I feel like the luckiest person in the world that my children both graduated. It is a great feeling of accomplishment for them and for me,” Cynthia Wilson said. She said that it could be difficult at times juggling her roles as a mom, teacher and student, but that she was helped through those times with support from her family and students.?It was extremely hard having a first grade classroom, a family and going to school,” Cynthia Wilson said in an email, “I was so busy that at times it was hard to ?do it all.’ ? I have to thank my family for being so supportive at this time and also the first-graders.”Cynthia Wilson was also helped in part by a Teach Grant, which stipulated that she had to teach in an urban setting for a minimum of three years. Her son works construction with his father now while he looks to get a job in his field. Jacqueline Wilson will be attending Endicott College in the fall with her tuition paid in full by a scholarship that she earned while in a summer program run by the college for 100 high school students in which they lived, ate and studied at the school. Jacqueline Wilson was the one student out of the 100 who was chosen for a “full boat” scholarship.?It’s going to be like deja vu going back, I think,” she said. She hopes to eventually become an orthopedic surgeon and says that she is prepared for years of school ahead of her.Eric Adrien may be reached at [email protected].
