LYNN – Singer and Cobbet School fifth grader Amanda Mena will be welcomed home to Lynn Wednesday with two celebrations in honor of her big win on “La Voz Kids.”
Mena, 11, was named the grand prize winner Sunday on the Spanish children’s version of the reality talent show “The Voice,” recorded at Universal Orlando, Fla.
Cobbet School staff and students, who have supported Mena on her journey to stardom will welcome her home with a celebration in the Fecteau-Leary gym Wednesday afternoon, where Mena is expected to perform.
That party will be followed by a second at the Lynn YMCA at 5 p.m. on Neptune Boulevard. Mena, a longtime member of the YMCA, created her audition tape for the show in the Lynn Music Studio Clubhouse.
One has to wonder how Mena will respond to her instant stardom.
“She is so humble,” said YMCA Associate Executive Director Gregg Ellenberg. “She sings because she loves to sing.”The Daily Item staff will provide updates on this story as they become available.
