BOSTON ? A Boston man who allegedly offered to fight officers arresting him in connection with a double stabbing at Wonderland T Station was held on $100,000 cash bail at his arraignment Monday in a local hospital.??You guys got me,’ (the defendant) allegedly said after being read his Miranda rights,” Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said in a press release. “?If you want to beat me up, take the handcuffs off me and fight me.'”Matthew DeCosta, 28, of Boston, was arrested and charged with armed assault with intent to murder; and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; on Friday.MBTA, Revere and Suffolk County State Police all responded to Wonderland T Station at approximately 9 p.m. Friday on the report of a double stabbing. Officers found a 49-year-old Everett man with “an eviscerating wound to the stomach” and rushed the man to Massachusetts General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, including punctures to his lung and liver. The man remains in stable condition, according to Conley.A second victim, identified as a 33-year-old Malden woman, was hospitalized for less serious cuts to her right arm.Police said witnesses and surveillance footage revealed the assailant followed the two alleged victims into the station and then got into an argument with the male alleged victim as they passed the turnstiles. The female alleged victim got between the two when DeCosta allegedly took out a knife and stabbed each of the alleged victims. DeCosta then allegedly dropped the knife and fled the station.Police responded to the nearby Revere Beach station and found DeCosta on an outbound train. DeCosta had allegedly taken off his sweatshirt, but a portion of it was sticking out of his backpack and officers said DeCosta had apparent blood stains on his shoes and pants. DeCosta then allegedly challenged police to a fight.DeCosta was arraigned in a Whidden Memorial Hospital bed after complaining of chest pains, Conley said. Assistant District Attorney Michelle Slade recommended DeCosta be held on $200,000 cash bail and be monitored by GPS, stay away from all victims and witnesses and stay away from all MBTA stations.Chelsea District Court Judge Matthew Nestor imposed $100,000 cash bail and an order to stay away from the victims.DeCosta is scheduled to return to court July 9.
