Pianist, recording artist to perform at Lynn church

LYNN ? The Grace United Methodist Church will host a performance of Holy Scripture ? Alive with Sounds of Music, a musical worship service featuring pianist and recording artist Dr. Calvin Taylor.Taylor has 10 solo recordings to his credit and currently records for Master Disc Records. At the piano, his unique ability to cover over 12 and a half octaves has allowed him to create sounds and colors that normally require four hands.In 1970, Taylor made musical history at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music as the first student to improvise an encore performance during the school’s graduate concert.Taylor is the author of several music books including Spirituals for Piano, The Patriotic Piano, Spiritual Suite for Organ, Sacred Classics, Spirituals for Worship and Five Spirituals for Organ. He hold degrees from Oberlin Conservatory, The University of Michigan and the University of Kentucky.
