LYNN – Greater Lynn Senior Services (GLSS) will hold a job fair on Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon at the agency’s transportation department at 330 Lynnway, Building B, in Lynn, behind the Clock Tower Building.GLSS is the area agency on aging and aging services access point serving people age 60 and older and adults with disabilities in Lynn, Lynnfield, Nahant, Saugus and Swampscott. The agency’s transportation department is the contractor for the North Service Area of THE RIDE – the state’s paratransit service – providing more than 600,000 rides annually to people with disabilities of all ages who live in 23 cities and towns north of and including Boston.”We have good jobs available immediately,” said Lisa Wharff, GLSS’ director of human resources.Transportation services are available to consumers 22 hours a day every day. Drivers provide door-to-door service to elderly and disabled passengers, taking them to medical appointments, work, school, shopping and other activities throughout the Greater North Shore and Boston areas. Hours and shifts vary.”Driving for GLSS is very rewarding – I begin and end my workday knowing that I’ve made a real difference in someone’s life,” said one driver. “Most people can’t say that about the work they do.”Applicants for driver positions must be 21 years of age, have a clean driving record and have a minimum of three years driving experience. As a condition of employment, GLSS conducts criminal background checks (CORI) and drug and alcohol testing for all candidates seeking employment. Candidates should bring a copy of their Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driving record with them when they apply.”Our staff are some of the most committed and compassionate people in our area,” said GLSS’ Executive Director Paul T. Crowley. “We are like a lifeline, helping seniors and people with disabilities stay independent and connected with the community.”For more information, visit www.glss.net or call human resources at 781-599-0110.
