LYNN ? An Everett police officer who lives in Saugus was ordered held on $1,000 bail on charges he beat his 10-year-old son with a belt.
Officer Jermaine Bellard, 32, of 1 Rice St., Saugus, was arraigned Friday at Lynn District Court on one count of assault and battery of a child with injury. Essex Assistant District Attorney Mark Byron told the court that Bellard had allegedly beat his 10-year-old son with a belt after the boy got in trouble at school.
Byron requested $10,000 bail, but Judge Ellen Flatley set bail at $1,000 and also ordered Bellard to have no contact with his son or the child’s mother.
Bellard was ordered to return to court on August 6.
