LYNN – It was certainly the Antonio Felix show Tuesday night at Breed Middle School?s Clancy Field.Felix, the 15-year-old St. Mary?s football and baseball star, was on the hill for the Lynn Babe Ruth 15s in their District 1 tournament game against Saugus, a 13-1 six-inning win, and if it was just his pitching that did the trick, that would be good enough.Felix struck out 12 in six innings, mixing a better-than-average 15-year-old fastball with a sharp curve to befuddle Saugus hitters all night. But when you add to the fact that Felix had two triples and a double, and scored three runs, you have what could be considered a youth baseball game for the ages.?He did quite well,” said Lynn manager Steve Moccia. “He was a little shaky early, and our offense had trouble capitalizing on our opportunities. But he settled down, and we started getting those runners in.”Lynn took a 1-0 lead in the first on Felix? double, Tyler Way?s bunt single and Herbie Newton?s base hit that scored them both.Saugus was back with its only run in the bottom of the inning when Nick Ruscani led off with a single, stole second, and scored on Brandon Patterson?s base hit.In the third, Lynn made it 3-1 when Matt Stanley walked, and Nick Peveri and Jerry Ortega hit back-to-back singles. Another run came across in the fourth when Felix tripled and scored on Newton?s sacrifice fly.The floodgates opened after that, as Lynn scored five runs in the fifth inning and four more in the sixth to eclipse the 10-run limit. The win pretty much guarantees that Lynn will win the district and go on to the state tournament in Braintree. The 15s are 4-0 with one game to play, tonight (8) against Swampscott/Nahant, which lost to Peabody.Peabody is 3-1, but even if Lynn were to lose to Swampscott/Nahant tonight and Peabody wins its game, both teams would wrap up the districts at 4-1, with Lynn holding the head-to-head edge, having defeated Peabody last Friday. All games are at Breed.
