LYNN ? Hundreds of people gathered at the Greater Lynn Senior Services (GLSS) and Lynn Council on Aging’s headquarters on Silsbee Street on Wednesday for their annual Fourth of July barbecue.Visitors enjoyed live music, food and ice cream in the 88-degree weather along with special guests U.S. Rep. John Tierney, Massachusetts Attorney General and gubernatorial candidate Martha Coakley and Richard Tisei, candidate for the 6th Congressional District seat held by Tierney.?They did a great job setting up this event and have great spirit,” said Tierney. “GLSS and the Council on Aging always do a good job working together for this annual Fourth of July event.”Lynn Council on Aging Director Stacy Minchello said that the event pulls in about 300 people annually.During the barbecue, the music briefly paused for some thanks to the sponsors and a special dedication ceremony for the late GLSS founder Vince Lique. The ceremony dedicated a number of Buddhist prayer flags in his memory, according to GLSS Executive Director Paul Crowley. The crowd took a moment to recite a Buddhist prayer in memory of Lique as the prayer flags were flown in the wind.
