LYNN – A judge ordered no additional bail for a Salem man who posted $25,000 cash after police reported finding cocaine and steroids in the man’s car after arresting him on a drunken-driving charge.”I then informed him about the anabolic steroids that were located in the trunk of the vehicle, to which he put his head in his hands and stated, ?why did I leave that in there,'” Nahant Police Officer Timothy Furlong wrote in a report. “At this point, (the defendant) then stated, ?I think I should talk to a lawyer.'”Richard Fialho, 35, of 40 Clark St., Salem, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor; possession of Class B drugs; possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs; trafficking in cocaine; possession of Class E drugs, three counts; speeding; a marked-lanes violation; and negligent operation of a motor vehicle; at 10:01 p.m. Friday.He appeared Monday in Lynn District Court where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.Police on traffic duty at the Nahant end of the causeway reported pulling over Fialho’s car after seeing the vehicle abruptly change lanes, almost hitting another vehicle. Fialho told police, “I guess I was going a little too fast,” and police reported smelling alcohol in the vehicle. The defendant allegedly then failed several field-sobriety tests.Officers reported a bottle of water on the driver’s seat of the vehicle, and, while looking to see if it contained alcohol, officers reported finding a bag of suspected cocaine.A State Police K-9 unit responded to the scene and police reported recovering a total of 42 grams of suspected cocaine in 11 bags and 11 bottles of various types of anabolic steroids.Police reported Fialho said the cocaine was for his personal use, then was told that police found the suspected steroids. He then requested a lawyer.A bail clerk ordered Fialho held on $25,000 cash, which the defendant posted. Judge James LaMothe ordered the $25,000 bail to stand, and scheduled Fialho to return to court Aug. 14.
