Revere residents hospitalized following Tobin Bridge crash

BOSTON ? State Police said four Revere residents were among those taken to Massachusetts General Hospital Monday following a three-car crash on the Tobin Bridge where the driver allegedly responsible for the crash ran from the scene.?Excessive speed and marked-lanes violations were factors,” Massachusetts State Police spokesman Dave Procopio said in a press release.State Police responded after numerous motorists called 911 following a three-vehicle crash on the Tobin Bridge lower (northbound) deck at 11:34 a.m. Monday, according to State Police.Police said a 2009 Toyota Corolla being driven by a 38-year-old Chelsea man, and with a 38-year-old Roxbury woman as a passenger, caused the crash.The man allegedly fled the crash scene on foot, running from the lower deck into downtown Chelsea. Police said they did not find the man, but he has been identified and police are seeking charges. Police said they are not releasing the individual’s name as he has not yet been arrested.One of the cars involved in the crash was occupied by Revere residents.A 30-year-old Revere man was driving a 2008 Nissan Sentra and had three passengers in the car: a 27-year-old Revere woman; and two male children, ages 7 and 1, police said. All were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital to be evaluated for possible minor injuries. Police did not identify if the victims were related.A 35-year-old Melrose woman driving a 1997 Honda CRV was also involved in the crash and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for an evaluation of minor injuries, police said.Police said they are not releasing the names of those treated in the accident.Police also reported that traffic was restricted to a single lane following the crash, but all lanes were reopened by 1 p.m.
