LYNN ? Neighbors of Magnolia Park have complained to police about what they believe to be animal abuse taking place at the park.?My son was out walking the dog when he found a goose with broken legs and a broken neck, so he brought it home, but it ended up dying anyway,” said Laury D’Entremont, an area resident who sent in a complaint. “It looked like someone was using it as a soccer ball. The poor thing had broken legs and no chance of escaping.”D’Entremont said Tuesday that she and her son had also found trash bags piled up in the middle of the field with several other dead geese in them. She also said that this happens repeatedly and usually on Sundays at Magnolia Park.Police arrived on the scene after being called, but the only evidence they were able to find was the one dead bird that D’Entremont’s son had brought home with him.?Currently we have no suspects for the crime at Magnolia Park,” said Lynn Animal Control Officer Keith Sheppard. “Unnecessary harm done to animals is a felony in Massachusetts and is punishable by up to three years in prison.”Sheppard recommended that if anyone sees anyone doing harm to animals, they should immediately call the police at 781-595-2000 and the animal control officer at 781-477-7080.He also stated that he will request extra patrols at the park on Sundays.
