LYNN ? The Ingalls Elementary School is losing a program specialist, but the Drewicz Elementary School is gaining a principal.Superintendent Catherine Latham has appointed Patricia Hebert as the new head of the Hood Street school, replacing the retiring Bernadette Stamm.Hebert is no stranger to the classroom or administration. She has taught since 1997 and has elementary experience in Florida and North Carolina as well as Methuen. She has worked in the Lynn Public Schools since 2001, teaching first, fourth, fifth and sixth grades. She was also an elementary and middle school math teacher at the Ford School and the Ford School Annex and has taught English language arts, science and social studies at the elementary level as well.Latham said Hebert is a strong proponent of the philosophy that the state standards in reading and writing are essential standards that are applicable across the curriculum to all content areas.While at Ingalls, Hebert was busy. She was a member of the Family Engagement Alignment Team, a member of the School Improvement Committee, the MCAS and ACCESS test coordinator, and an active participant in planning team meetings for students with special needs.She holds both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Education degree from Salem State University with double majors in elementary education and psychology. She is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a principal and an elementary and middle school teacher. She received her principal license after participating in the Commonwealth Leadership Academy. And Hebert is an adjunct faculty member at North Shore Community College in Lynn and Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill.
