LYNN ? July and August are free teen Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Lynn YMCA of Metro North.Doors will be open on those two days, each week for the next two months, for teens between the ages of 13 and 19. The days also extend to the Melrose, Peabody and Saugus branches.?The YMCA of Metro North is happy to open its doors to the teens of our community this summer,” said Bruce Macdonald, president and CEO of the YMCA of Metro North. “The primary mission of the YMCA is to strengthen the foundation of the community.”Macdonald said what better way to strengthen the community than by giving teens the opportunity to learn and participate in activities that are designed to promote healthy living, youth development and social responsibility.?Our YMCAs have worked hard over the past few years to develop excellent facilities and programs,” he said. “The Y feels it is critical to get teens involved, especially in the summer, when they have time and energy that needs to be channeled in a positive direction.”This initiative seeks to provide a safe, fun place for teens over the summer where they can enjoy time with their peers while learning the importance of health, wellness and social responsibility. Teens will have the opportunity to engage in sports, arts, open gym, aquatics, music studio, lifeguard prep, swim, fitness and more. For more information on how to get started with the #YFREETEENS program or for a list of scheduled activities, visit any of the welcome centers at the branches in Lynn, Melrose, Peabody or Saugus. For additional information, visit www.ymcametronorth.org or contact Lindsey Lerit at 978-977-3701 or [email protected].
