LYNN – A judge ordered $1,000 cash bail for a Dorchester man who allegedly threatened his ex-girlfriend and then allegedly broke down the door and tried to strangle her after she threw boiling water on him.Tony Burt, 47, of 49 Monadnock St., Dorchester, was arrested and charged with assault and battery; wanton and malicious destruction of property +$250; and threat to commit crime; at 7:51 p.m. Monday. He pleaded not guilty to the charges Tuesday in Lynn District Court.Police reported responding to Alice Avenue where Lynn Fire was treating a man, later identified as the defendant, who had second-degree burns on his left ribs and butt. Burt told police he came to the apartment to see his son, but his ex-girlfriend started to argue and yell at him, Lynn Police Officer Sadrak Pierre wrote in a report. Burt said his ex then threw hot water on him, and he, in turn, threw stones at the window, police reported.The ex-girlfriend allegedly told police Burt called her, but she told him not to come to the apartment. But the alleged victim said she saw Burt outside yelling and threatening to kill her if she didn’t open the door, police reported. The woman told police Burt threw rocks at her children’s bedroom window, breaking it and nearly hitting one of her sons.”The alleged victim stated that this is when she threw the hot water that she grabbed from the kitchen sink in a bowl,” Pierre reported.Burt then allegedly kicked down the front door and tried to strangle his ex. The alleged victim said she kicked Burt in the groin and he let go, police reported. Police said an adult witness echoed the alleged victim’s account of what happened outside the apartment. The alleged victim’s teenage son corroborated his mother’s account of the stone throwing and the attempted strangulation. Both Burt and the alleged victim – who will be summonsed for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon – reported calling police.Police noted Burt had an outstanding warrant from Suffolk Superior Court for violating probation on charges of possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs; and a drug violation in a school zone.A prosecutor requested Burt be held on $20,000 cash bail, citing what Judge Ellen Flatley noted in court documents was a “long, long criminal (record).” Flatley also noted Burt was on stayed sentences out of Suffolk Superior Court and ordered $1,000 cash bail. Burt was expected to appear in Suffolk Superior Court following his arraignment in Lynn.Burt is scheduled to return to Lynn District Court Aug. 22.
