SALEM – The New England Pirate Faire, New England’s original pirate-themed interactive theatrical event, returns to the city where it began for its 10th anniversary celebration. Pioneer Village: Salem 1620 will once again host the family-friendly event.The New England Pirate Faire is scheduled for two days, July 26 and 27, and runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.”We’re so pleased and excited to be back in Salem,” said David Stickney, Pastimes’ executive producer. “Salem is where the Pirate Faire began, and I can’t think of a better place to hold our 10th anniversary celebration.”Pastimes’ longest-running production began in 2004 as the Salem Pirate Faire, and was held for several years at Stage Fort Park. The show briefly relocated to Gloucester for two years before returning to Salem and partnering with Pioneer Village. The living history attraction saw its largest one-day attendance in its first year hosting the show.”This year’s storyline is a tale of revenge and redemption,” show director Paul Stickney said. Captain Anne Bonney and her comrade Mary Read rescue a young woman, the sole survivor of a pirate raid on her village, and train her to become a living weapon – a weapon Bonney and Read plan to aim at the man who led the raid: the infamous Blackbeard.The New England Pirate Faire also features interactive activities that draw audience members into the show and makes them part of the story.
