Colin Reddy of the Pine Hill Rangers is the new Home Run Derby champion of Lynn Little League.Sunday night, under the lights at fan-filled Wyoma, the righty slugger launched a slew of long and dramatic home runs into the thick trees and onto the rooftops out in left field at Reinfuss Field, as the large crowd oohed and aahed.Reddy, whose Rangers are in the Lynn City Series playoffs today versus West Lynn at 7:30 p.m., received a huge, glittering trophy from Wyoma President Tony Luciano.Reddy said, “It?s a great honor winning the trophy and bringing the trophy to Pine Hill.”The previous Pine Hill LL star to cop the crown was Anthony Ross several seasons ago.Reddy also credited his big brother, Liam Reddy, for excellent pitching to him during the Derby, which was jammed with moms, dads and kids with gloves chasing down the hits.At one point, there were 20 kids playing right field when left-handed hitter Matt Devin batted.Reddy had one homer with one out to go in the first round against 15 contestants, but he showed sheer willpower by slamming seven straight homers to stay alive and get into the finals. Other fab hitters in the finals were Will Hunter of West Lynn, Julien Silvestre of Shore, Matt Devin of the WL Dodgers (whose dad Bill Devin pitched), and slugger Eusebio Quintana of Pine Hill.Adding more class to the event was College World Series pitching star Ben Bowden, a former home run derby champion from East Lynn in 2007.Sunday, he even wore his same EL Little League shirt from seven years ago and seemed shocked that it still fit. He also pitched to a Home Run Derby batter, and even chased down fly balls with the kids.Rain almost washed out the event, now in its 15th year.Lynn sports broadcaster John Hoffman said, “What the awesome Wyoma workers did to make the muddy field playable was miraculous.”
