REVERE – The American Red Cross of Massachusetts set up a distribution site this morning at the Cronin Ice Rink parking lot at 850 Revere Beach Parkway.
The relief organization is supplying residents with cleanup supplies including dust masks, personal first aid kits, dust pans, push brooms, rakes, tarps of various sizes, work gloves, safety goggles, ear protectors.Distribution was to begin at 9 a.m., according to a statement issued Tuesday morning from the Red Cross.A Red Cross mobile feeding unit will continue to travel the neighborhood surrounding Revere Beach Parkway to provide meals, drinks and snacks to residents as they work to clean up.?The response to this tornado will go beyond yesterday’s initial actions and will last for weeks and months to come,” said Ralph Boyd, Red Cross of Massachusetts CEO. “The Red Cross will be here to work with the people of Revere and help them along the path to recovery.”Boyd noted that the Red Cross also responded to a fire in Everett on July 28 in the midst of the tornado relief operation. They assisted more than 30 people displaced by a fire in Cambridge on Sunday and provided help to more than 50 people displaced by the tragic fire in Lowell on July 10.?The Red Cross volunteers who respond to help their neighbors are true heroes,” Boyd said. “And it’s the compassion of donors that power their response. We are grateful to everyone who makes this work possible.”
