LYNN – A judge ordered a city man held without bail Friday after the man’s wife told police the defendant strangled her twice Thursday night into Friday morning.”When I asked her why she didn’t call the police and she told me she was afraid and he would not let her leave the room,” Lynn Police Officer John Harkness wrote in a report.Oliver Taylor, 24, of 1 Kingsley Terrace #1, was arrested and charged with kidnapping; two counts of attempted murder; and two counts of domestic assault and battery; at 6:51 a.m. Friday.He pleaded not guilty to the charges later that morning in Lynn District Court.Police reported responding to the Kingsley Terrace apartment early Friday morning where the alleged victim told officers Taylor had strangled her and then slammed her against the tub the previous night.The alleged victim told police she blacked out for a few seconds and regained consciousness when convulsing, according to the report. The alleged victim alleged that a second assault occurred earlier that morning when Taylor threw her against the bedroom wall and strangled her, police said.Officers reported “dark marks which appeared to be finger-shaped bruises,” on the alleged victim, who said she “was not sure if they were old or new” because Taylor had assaulted her in the past.Police found Taylor on the street and arrested him after he allegedly tried to run away.Essex Assistant District Attorney Aimee Conway requested Taylor be held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing later that afternoon. A court-appointed defense attorney asked the hearing be continued so the public defender’s office could prepare.Judge Ellen Flatley ordered Taylor held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing Aug. 7.
