Shore is back in the baseball business … and baseball brings neighbors together.Hosted by Wyoma Little League, the Giants won the deciding game, 10-3, and afterward, the entire community partied through the night at Kiley Park, home of the Shore diamond … a league that rose from the ashes under the leadership of President Dave Dorgan.It looked bleak in the first inning when The Home Run Kid, Colin Reddy, socked his fourth homer in a row to start he game. Then, two innings later, Reddy set a North Shore record by blasting his fifth consecutive round tripper, YELLING, “home run, home run, home run,” on his trot around the bases.With the three straight he hit Thursday, plus the two hit hit Friday, that made it five in a row … almost unheard of, and surely setting a City Series record.For the Giants Jomar Moretta began the offense with a single and scored on a Julien Silvester two-bagger. All-star David Stepan tripled home Silvestre and scored on Seth Menard’s single to give Shore a 3-1 lead.The Giants added another run in the second. Gordo Duverge and Moretta drew one out walks and shore loaded the bases on a single by Andy Duverge. Silvestre drew the bases loaded walk to score Gordo Duverge and give the Giants a 4-1 lead.Pine Hill mounted a comeback in the third as Reddy continued his amazing streak by hitting his fifth consecutive homerun. Dan Gisono would reach second on an error. Gisono then stole third and scored on an error on the play making the score 4-3 Giants. In the bottom of the third, Menard singled and Declan Dorgan walked setting the stage for Gordo Duverge’s RBI single and a 5-3 lead.Pine Hill had their biggest threat in the 4th after Jose Castro reached on an error and Kyle Durant drew a two out walk. With the tying runs on base, up stepped the mighty Reddy, The Giants quickly snuffed out the threat as Andy Duverge threw a bullet to nail Castro trying to advance to third on a wild pitch.Lynn Shore added two more runs in the 4th when Andy Duverge singled and scored on a ball hit by Stepan. Menard made it 7-3 as he drove Stepan home with an RBI double.In the fifth, Reddy was finally retired on a popup to short. Tim Nerich would double but was left stranded when Shores Chris Figuereo would make a nice catch on a fly ball by Pine Hill’s Aubrey Connors.The Giants would add three more in the fifth capped off by Andy Duverge’s two-run homer. Menard would come on to relieve Moretta with two outs in the 6th and get the final batter to ground out giving Shore the win.Lynn Shore coach Mark Sullivan said “my team showed mental toughness to come back after yesterday’s defeat”. Sullivan also praised Pine Hill for a great series and to Reddy for his remarkable performance.
