The Mass Youth Soccer District Select program culminated in a weekend-long tournament in Lancaster the first week of August.Players from all over Massachusetts competed with their districts this summer and the tournament was the crowning event of the season. Summer play was on Sundays through July. The District 5 team, which is comprised of 36 mostly Essex County towns, had 7 wins and 1 tie in the summer matchups. The D5 girls played in 4 round-robin games over the weekend with 3 wins and a tie to take them into the finals as the first-place seed. The team continued its winning streak with a 3-0 victory against a team from District 6 in the finals to earn the gold. The D5 team is comprised of 17 girls from 12 towns. The girls were able to come together and unify as a team under the coaching of Ernie Agresti of Swampscott. They walked away as Champions of the U13 group.
