PEABODY ? A Salem man has been arrested and charged in an alleged armed home invasion that occurred late Sunday night on Paleologos Street.Manuel Pena, 22, of 135 Rainbow Terrace, Salem, was arrested on a warrant charging him with armed assault to murder; home invasion; and aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; at 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Peabody Police press release.Police responded to a Paleologos Street address at approximately 11:45 p.m. Sunday on a report of a man screaming for help. Police said a 57-year-old man reported two men had come into his open bedroom window and assaulted him with a baseball bat. After a struggle, both subjects allegedly fled. Peabody and Salem Police later searched the area but did not locate the suspects.The alleged victim was taken to the hospital for his injuries and was later released, according to the press release.Salem and Peabody Police identified Pena as a suspect and arrested him Tuesday afternoon at 190 Bridge St. in Salem. Salem Police are also charging Pena in connection with a 2010 case involving violence, according to the press release. Pena is expected to be arraigned in Peabody District Court Wednesday.
