LYNN – A judge ordered a city resident held for immigration and on $500 cash bail after a woman told police the defendant raped her after a date.Pedro Tejada, 35, of 182 Washington St. #4, was arrested and charged with rape; at 3:21 a.m. Saturday.He appeared in Lynn District Court Monday where a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf, according to court documents.Police reported responding to the Washington Street apartment at approximately 2:23 a.m. Saturday on the report of a domestic assault where the suspect had a hammer, Lynn Police Officer Michael McHale wrote in a report. The alleged victim pointed out the suspect, later identified as Tejada, to arriving officers. Tejada was taken to the cruiser for officer safety, police reported.The alleged victim told officers she met Tejada, who was an acquaintance, earlier that evening to go dancing and have a few drinks. She allegedly went home afterwards, but Tejada called her and invited her back to his apartment. Once she arrived, Tejada allegedly led her to his bedroom and asked if she would stay the night.”She declined the invitation and at that time she claims that he said he would ?rape’ her,'” police said.The alleged victim told police Tejada then held her down and raped her, according to police. He allegedly walked out of the room carrying a hammer, but he did not threaten her with the tool, police reported.Two other men in the apartment told officers they had been renting a bedroom to Tejada when they woke up to yelling.”(They) were surprised to hear a female voice since Tejada has never brought a woman to the apartment,” police reported the men said. “They did not open their bedroom door, but they stated that they could hear the female yelling about money.”Police said the alleged victim initially agreed, then refused, to go to the hospital, adamant that she see her own physician.Police arrested Tejada without incident. Immigration officials have meanwhile filed for the defendant to be deported for allegedly entering the United States illegally, according to court documents.Attorneys agreed that Tejada be held on $500 cash bail without prejudice, so the bail could be reargued at a later date.Judge James LaMothe accepted the agreed-upon bail and ordered Tejada to stay away from and have no contact with the alleged victim.Tejada is scheduled to return to court Sept. 8.
