LYNN – Police said a toddler was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons after running into a parking lot and being hit by an unlicensed driver Saturday afternoon.”The child ran from his mother, and the driver didn’t see him until the very last minute,” Lynn Police Lt. Rick Donnelly said Wednesday. He said that officers reviewed surveillance video and “anybody could have hit that child.”The crash occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. in front of the laundromat at the Shaw’s Supermarket parking lot on State Street, police said. The child – a 3-year-old boy – ran out into the parking lot and was struck by Raymond Viera, 26, of Henry Avenue.Viera was found to be an unlicensed driver and arrested at the scene, police said. Viera posted $40 bail to appear in court at a later date, according to police.Donnelly said the child was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for precautionary reasons and was in stable condition as police left the scene.
