LYNN ? Get rid of unwanted air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers and other electronic appliances this weekend at a local recycling event.The “Air it Out” event held by Ethical Electronics Recycling will accept white goods or appliances containing refrigerants that are not accepted by the City of Lynn. The event will be held between the hours of 12 and 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the corner of Lewis Street and Stone Place, next to the RiteAid Pharmacy at 158 Lewis St.Organizers will ensure that the appliances are recycled in an ethical way that prevents harmful chemicals and materials from being released into the air or local waterways.Fees range from $25 each for air conditioners, dehumidifiers, wine chillers and small appliances up to $55 each for full-size refrigerators, freezers and other large appliances. A share of the proceeds from the event supports local environmental organizations like Friends of Lynn and Nahant Beach and local environmental efforts like the One Health Ocean’s Marine Water Sampling Program.If you have an old appliance that is too difficult to move, the recyclers can pick it up and carry it out of your home or business by appointment between today and Sunday.
