LYNN – Police are investigating a shooting that occurred at 11:13 p.m. Thursday off Chestnut Street that sent a 20-year-old local man to Massachusetts General Hospital.”A male reported to Salem Hospital with a gunshot wound to the face. He was transferred to Mass General and his condition was stabilized,” said Police Capt. Mark O’Toole.Officers responding to reports of gunshots on Rand, a residential street running between Ford Street and Chestnut, found blood and a bullet on the ground.”Some type of disturbance took place in the vicinity of 58 Rand with gunshots fired. We’re still investigating,” O’Toole said.Rand resident Herb French said he heard a single gunshot Thursday night and saw police cars on the street. He said Rand is a fairly trouble-free street where residents get along together and tend to their single-family and multi-family homes.”We have a lot of great people and new neighbors: Two houses sold in the last six months,” French said.A paper notice attached to 58 Rand’s front door Friday listed the name Mandela Isaak under the words “notice to quit.” A man and a woman who answered the home’s doorbell declined to discuss the shooting.
