The North Shore Baseball League playoffs have been a wild ride this summer.Friday’s 3-2 Kingston Night Owls win over Peabody Champions at Twi Field in Danvers was no exception.There have been a couple of extra inning games that had to be suspended because the lights went out. There were lopsided wins, one-run games and a game that saw the Kingston Night Owls erase a 9-0 deficit to come back and defeat Peabody Champions. And of course there were the games with the controversial calls.This being the case, it’s probably no surprise that the best-of-seven final series is heading for a game 7, which will be played today (2 p.m.) at Twi Field in Danvers.Kingston took a 3-0 lead in the first inning when Peabody pitching gave up a two-out single and a hit batter that put two on base for Mike Ferriero. Ferriero delivered with a three-run home run.Kingston pitcher Steve Considine ended up surrendering five walks, but not much else. Peabody could only muster three hits through the first six innings. Champions luck started to change in the seventh when Mike Giardi led off with a walks and Cam Couillard singled to right to put runners on first and second.Pinch hitter Kyle Multner was out (infield fly rule) and Brigan Marshall made the second out on a fly ball to right. Dave Ruggiero walked to load the bases Mark Shorey walked to drive in a run and cut the lead to 3-1.Kingston brought in a new pitcher, bringing up Mark Shorey. Kingston brought in a lefty pitcher, but Shorey walked to drive in the run and cut the lead to 3-1.Chad Martin followed with a single to drive in the second run and Champions thought it had the game tied, but Shorey was thrown out going from first to third. Champions player/manager Giardi said the controversy erupted because the umpire ruled that Shorey was out before the tying run scored.Tyler Leavitt took the loss for Champions, going six innings. Consident got the win for Kingston.
