LYNN – A judge allowed a city man and woman to remain free after State Police reported finding no luggage but more than $80,000 cash and pills in a secret compartment of the car the defendants said they were taking to a vacation in the Bronx.”I asked (the female defendant) where all their luggage and clothes were for the trip,” Trooper David C. Lucas wrote in a report. He said the two defendants conversed in Spanish before the woman answered. “?I have one outfit in my bag which will be fine and he said he doesn’t need any clothes.'”Bladimir J. Crispin-Vargas, also known as Migueas Sanchez Lugo, 34, of 110 Bayview Ave. #1, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs; conspiracy to violate drug laws; forgery / misuse of a Registry of Motor Vehicles document; giving a false name / Social Security Number on arrest; unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle; and speeding; at 9:35 p.m. last Monday.Flavia Duran, 32, also of Lynn, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs; and conspiracy to violate drug laws.Both appeared in Lynn District Court Wednesday where pleas of not guilty were entered on each defendant’s behalf, according to court documents.A trooper on patrol last Monday night on the Lynnway reported pulling over the defendants’ vehicle after recording it traveling 50 mph in a 35-mph zone.The trooper immediately noticed the smell of air freshener in the car and that Crispin-Vargas, the driver, and Duran, the passenger, were nervous, according to the report. Duran allegedly told the trooper that they were going to the Bronx for a week, but the trooper noticed no luggage in the back of the SUV.The trooper asked about clothes for the trip, and Duran changed the story.”Duran immediately replied, ?actually, we are going to visit his family, we are coming back tonight,'” Lucas reported.The defendants allowed the trooper to search the vehicle, where officials reported finding a hidden compartment containing five suspected Percocets and $80,000 in cash. Both defendants denied knowing about the cash, and it was seized along with approximately $1,000 in bills on each defendant, according to police. During fingerprinting, police allegedly found that Crispin-Vargas had been using a fake name and identification.Both defendants posted bail from the police station and appeared in court Wednesday. Judge Ellen Flatley allowed each to remain free and scheduled them to return to court Oct. 14, according to court documents.
