REVERE ? Police are investigating a double shooting Saturday morning in which a man allegedly opened fire on two people who returned to the man’s home after being kicked out of a party. The incident occurred on Oak Tree Lane early Saturday morning, according to a press release from Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office. Police said the preliminary investigation suggests a 21-year-old man was involved in a fight at a party at that location, was kicked out, and then returned to the home, along with his 50-year-old stepfather and a female relative. The two men allegedly hit the home with rocks and baseball bats, prompting the 77-year-old owner of the home, Robert Distefano, to get a dead relative’s handgun and go outside. (The Revere Police log recorded Distefano as 73 years old.)When the two men approached him, Distefano allegedly fired. The 21-year-old alleged victim was critically injured but is expected to survive after surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. The 50-year-old alleged victim was shot in the back and arm, but the injuries are not believed to be life threatening, according to the district attorney’s office.Distefano has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm in a home ? a misdemeanor which carries no jail time ? and is scheduled to be arraigned on that charge today in Chelsea District Court, according to Conley’s office. The alleged incident remains under investigation by Revere Police and Massachusetts State Police.
